James Peacock, Rites of Modernization.
Ward Keeler, Javanese Shadow Plays, Javanese Selves.
Layton, Anthropology of Art may also be useful for bibliography.
Others which are not strictly anthropological may also be useful. I can
think of:
Janet Wolff, The Social Production of Art.
