field gear - waterproof maps

Maps can always be sprayed (i.e. soaked) with Krylon or Damar, or probably
any other clear plastic. It's worth experimenting before you go out into the
field.

Regarding Nalgene's plastic paper, it might be possible to Xerox a map
directly onto it. I'd check the spec sheets for both the copier and paper
before experimenting, since plastic paper fused onto the drum could do some
costly damage.
