1996 PROPOSAL FOR ORGANIZED SESSION
SEND ORIGINAL AND 3 COPIES
Please type the requested information. An original
and 3 copies of the proposal are required. In
addition to the session proposal forms, the
organizer must submit as a package author data
forms and abstract forms for all papers and
meeting registration forms and fees for all
participants in the session. The entire package
must be mailed in time to be received by April 1,
1996. Address proposals to 1996 Program
Committee, 4350 North Fairfax Drive, Suite 640,
Arlington, VA 22203. FAXES WILL NOT BE
ACCEPTED. Incomplete session proposals will be
rejected.

Audiovisual Equipment Summary: The organizer is
responsible for ordering audiovisual equipment for

You should limit proposals to one session with a
total scheduled time of either 1 3/4 hours, or 3 3/4
hours. Failure to comply will compromise
scheduling opportunities. Fifteen (15) minutes are
allotted to each paper and to each discussant.
Any departure from this should be adequately
justified, and the Program Committee reserves the
right to alter proposal lengths of presentations.
Photocopy or use additional sheets as necessary.
(Be sure to include all participants.) Incomplete
session proposals will be rejected. List below, in
presentation order, (1) the names and paper titles
of all participants in the proposed session,
including organizer(s), chair(s) and discussant(s) [If
you need to request a waiver of the membership
requirement for a discussant, complete an author
data form for that person]; (2) indicate AAA
membership ID numbers and institutional
affiliations of all participants; (3) the position of
breaks and discussion periods. Providing your
AAA membership number is very important. Use
7-digit ID number on your mailing label. In the
case of a joint membership, be sure to use your
own ID number, not the ID assigned to your
partner.

PROPOSAL FOR ORGANIZED SESSION
SEND FOUR COPIES OF THE ABSTRACT
Abstract for Publication
All abstracts for the 1996 annual meeting will be
scanned and processed via optical character
recognition (OCR). Please follow these instructions
in preparing your abstract:
1. Abstracts have a maximum length of up to 500
words. For an AAA select paper abstract, the
requirement is for a 750 word abstract.
2. Use one side of an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper,
leave 1-inch margins on top, bottom and sides.
3. Double-space all copy.
4. Do not use boldface, italics, or underlining.
5. Submit original and 3 copies. Make sure that
the original and copies are dark and clean. Faxes
will not be accepted.
6. Do not use righthand justification. If your word
processor has this as a formatting option, turn it
off.
7. Do not hyphenate. If your word processor has
this as a formatting option, turn it off.
8. Do not use proportional spacing. If your word
processor has this as a formatting option, turn it
off.
9. Do not write or edit (or use white-out on) the
copy once it is printed out. If corrections are
necessary, reprint the page. The OCR will not be
able to process any marks on the copy besides the
type.
10. Proof your copy very carefully. If you have a
spell checker, use it. this copy will not be
copyedited; what you type is what will appear in
the Abstracts book. Suggestion: Have someone
else read your abstract to check for grammar,
punctuation and spelling.
11. Absolutely no changes to the copy will be
accepted after submission.
12. Use the following format:
