I am new to this thread so I must apologize for saying something that may
have been said already.

I look at anthropology as divided into two fields -- physical and cultural.
Cultural includes ethnography, linguistics and archaeology. Physical
includes the biological "stuff". The rest can be divided along those lines.

I don't take credit for this idea. I have seen it in a number of intro
textbooks.
