If you are interested in the origin of the biblical story of flood, you
should read a good translation of the various mesopotamian versions relating
the story of Atra-hasis, the Babylonian Noah, in Stephanie Dalley's book
"Myths of Mesopotamia", Oxford University Press, World's Classics.
