In reponse to the orginial question, I am inclined to profess my opinion
on this subject...which the bottom line is any group, tribe, or
civilization, who possessed all areas of a "civilized" life, which
included the appreciation of arts, history, and written system along with
extremendous knowledge is civilized in my book. I must confess that
nations such as Sioux, Nez Pirece, and even Inuit are civilized by their
own standards. I could go on the subject of American Natives's
history...but its other subject anyway. And by the way, to promote the
idea of the differences between societies (from "gather-hunting society"
to the "civilized society", I could recommend a book titled, "Ishamael",
by Quinn, Daniel. I am a big fan of that book.
