I always thought that the difference between anthro and soc was that soc was
for those interested in statistics and Western cultures only. Anthro was for
studying all cultures and dealt more with the actual people that statistics
about them. But my favorite disctinction is between anthro and history:
history is the study of conquering peoples, anthro is the study of conquered
peoples.....
