Identities?

except for a brief meeting of Anthro-Lers at the recent meetings in
Washington. I am familiar with at least some of her published work,
dating back to the early 1970s (she sometimes has published under the
name Leavitt or Rohrlich-Leavitt). Nor do I know Anthony Dean Dauer
personally (aka "Mr.E" = mystery?) nor am I familiar with anything
he may have published, save for the carefully copyrighted postings
to Anthro-L.
Second, I take strong objection to Mr. Dauer's recent postings
in which he questions Ms. Rohrlich's professional identity by saying
he has searched various resources at George Washington and not found
her listed as a professor there. I don't recall Rohrlich ever claiming
to be a professor there---BUT, WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE? I might
as easily question Mr. Dauer's claim to be an American Indian/Native
American or why he chooses to be "Mr. E."
Fact is, folks, in cyberspace you are who you write--more so than
most academics may have ever experienced before (at least, not since
freshman comp--whoops, should that be freshperson comp?).
