Curanderismo in the southwest

I have a student who is working on a field project concerning curanderas in the
San Antonio, TX area. We have been able to find a lot of informal literature
about curanderismo, but our search of the usual indexes has turned up little
scholarly work on the subject. I am aware of a lot of work on ethnobotany among
the native peoples of the Americas etc., but can anyone suggest some recent
work on curanderos in the southwest U.S.? English or Spanish is fine. Thanks
