I attended a presentation by a Houston area group that had traveled on an
aid caravan to Chiapas during the christmas break. The coordinator of the trip,Maria Jimenez, stated that the Zapatista army is very egalitarian and that its
membership (from what a member told her) is roughly 40% female. If that stat
is correct I know I'm impressed!
