Nadine Peacock has written an article which reviews the arguments about
division of labor and discusses her research among the Ituri pygmies,
including data on precisely what you are asking about. Unfortunately I don't
have the reference with me at the moment, but hte article was published in
1991 in an edited colleciton, I believe.
