Regarding the request on materials dealing with performance, a very
interesting edited volume will soon be published by Stanford University
Press. It will be called HARMONY AND COUNTERPOINT: RITUAL MUSIC IN
CHINESE CONTEXT edited by Bell Yung, Evelyn Rawski and Rubie Watson. The
text deals with rituals in China and Korea from a variety of perspectives:
ethnomusicological, historical and anthropological.
