lecture subjects?

hi all...
What would you consider to be the most controversial issues in
Anthropology today? Obviously repatriation will remain one for quite
some time; And revisionists are a biggie. Actually, controversial may
not be the word I mean... just current issues that are of interest to a
broad audience. Any ideas?
The reason I ask is because, basically, I'm lookin' for ideas. I
recently took over the Anthropology Club at GMU, and I'm trying to
arrange a lecture series for next semester on current issues.
I'd like the lectures to have a cross-over appeal to other departments
(women's studies, history, government, area studies, etc). And I'd like
there to be an issue worthy of debate, so students would be able to ask
questions beyond the, "so, how did you brush your teeth in the jungle?"
level. :) (Although, I wondered about that when I started learning
about fieldwork!)
If you have any suggestions for lecture topics, or any suggestions for
other things that you think may be of interest to club members, please
let me know. This is the first time I've ever run anything like this,
and I'm still learning.
And...if you're local to the Northern Virginia area and would be
interested in talking to a bunch of students, I'd love to have you!
Thanks,
- Elizabeth Vance
