St. Lawrence University, Department of Anthropology, invites applications for a
Visiting Assistant Professor in Anthropology. Candidates must be able to teach
introductory courses in cultural anthropology and linguistics, a senior seminar
in culture theory, and two other courses in applicant's regional, topical and te
chnical specialities. Appointment is for 2 years and begins Fall 1995. Second
year teaching duties will be shared with St. Lawrence's First Year Program, an i
nterdisciplinary, team taught, academic and residential program for first year s
tudents. PhD preferred. Areas preferred are Asia, Pacific, Middle East, and Na
tive North and South America. Evidence of commitment to undergraduate teaching
is required. Preference will be given to applicants with strong training in one
or more of the following fields: ecological anthropology, ethnohistory, culture
change, psychological anthropology, gender studies, language and culture and sy
mbolic anthropology.
