Victoria University of Wellington N.Z. has recently approved the advertisement
of a position in Anthropology which reads as follows;

Applications are invited for the Chair in the Department of Anthropology, to be taken up from January 1995 following the retirement of Professor Ann Chowning
Applicants should hold a doctorate and have a distinguished record in teaching
research and scholarship in soci-cultural anthropology.

The Department currently consists of six members of staff and offers courses in the Faculty of Arts from first year undergraduate level through to the supervision of PhD research. All teaching and research is in the area of socio-cultural anthropology.

The applicant will be expected to be involved in the administration and manage-
ment of the Department and, when required, to serve as chairperson.
