The 1997 CSAS Meeting will be held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from April 3 to
April 6, 1997 at the Park East Hotel. The CSAS invites the submission of
papers covering all areas of anthropology, including archaeology and
biological anthropology, with an emphasis on current issues such as the role
of science in the discipline, and sub-disciplines. The Program Chair is Dr.
James W. Dow, Dept. of Soc. and Anth., Oakland University, Rochester, MI
48309. He can be reached at 810-370-2430 (voice), 810-370-4608 (fax), and
dow@oakland.edu (Internet). The deadline for submission of abstracts for
papers, sessions, round tables, and workshops is December 10, 1996. A
limited number of individual poster presentations will also be selected.
Information on the meeting and forms for abstracts and forms for
pre-registration appear on the CSAS 1997 Meeting World Wide Web page at URL
http://www.oakland.edu/~dow/csas97.htm. Potential authors may contact the
Program Chair for more information or for printed forms. Forms will also
appear in the September 1996 Central States Anthropological Society Bulletin.
Papers that are proposed as part of an organized session should be mailed to
the organizer of that session who will submit them together as a complete
package to the Program Chair.
Graduate and undergraduate students may submit paper proposals, but these
require the signature of a sponsoring faculty member. People do not have to
be members of the CSAS to present papers; however all proposals must be
accompanied by registration forms and fees for the presenter or presenters.
Persons interested in organizing sessions for the meetings should
communicate their interest as soon as possible to the Program Chair. Forms
for submitting sessions also can be obtained from the Web page at
http://www.oakland.edu/~dow/csas97.htm.
Pre registration forms are also available on the Web page, in the September
CSAS Bulletin, or from the Program Chair. A separate form should be
completed for each person registering. The form may also be saved to a file,
filled out with a text editor, and e mailed to the Program Chair.
Registration will also be possible at the meeting site; however all persons
presenting papers at the meeting must pre-register and pre-pay the
registration fees. The registration fees are.
CSAS regular members -- $35
CSAS student members -- $15
Non members -- $55
Students who are not members of the CSAS -- $25
