I have been out of town since I last posted on altruism. Apologies all
around for that last post. If you didn't
understand it, it's not surprising since what began as a response to
Jesse's comment devolved quite quickly into an internal monologue the
context for which wasn't supplied to the reader. I no longer have the
post at hand but if I recall correctly I had in there some comments about
altruism that would lead many sociobiologists to think I was a bit
loopy--and that would be the kind estimate. In case anyone is wondering,
the subtext, or meta-text had to do with getting wrapped up with thinking
about adaptations vs. adaptiveness. Sorry for posting that mess.
