The Department of Anthropology at McMaster University invites applications
for a full-time, tenure-track position in cultural anthropology at the
rank of Assistant Professor, effective July 1, 1996. Candidates must have
a PhD in cultural anthropology, a strong research and publication record
in northern issues, and previous university teaching experience. The
appointee is expected to teach undergraduate lecture and seminar courses,
contribute to MA and PhD teaching and supervision, carry out an active
research programme leading to publications, and take on administrative
responsibilities.

Preference will be given to candidates whose research complements and extends the
department's strengths in global cultures, Aboriginal and Indigenous studies,
ethnographic authority and subject voices, applied research, gendered and ethnic
identities, colonial histories and localized resistance, medical anthropology, human
rights and political ecology. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.
