here I don't at all object to the dangling participle) makes the sentence
comprehensible. Your posting is much briefer and much more polite than the
one by the guy who told me to read some pages in the relevant book, which
I don't happen to own. I do feel ashamed that I didn't think of adding
"with" myself; I used to read French a lot and translate it, too, but
