Advertising policy

Years ago, the folks who started and first populated Usenet
derived a policy for advertising on that part of the net.
The policy was based on their notion of common sense, and
was cognizant of the fact that someone was paying real
money to send the news around.
Essentially the policy stated that advertising for new
products was allowable provided:
1. it was posted one time.
2. it was posted in the appropriate place.
3. it was short and sweet - if more information
was required, the poster could provide a pointer
to the location of that information.
Perhaps these might serve as a starting point for such a
policy for anthro-l?
