A couple of decades ago in New York City some friends took over housing
that had been abandoned, either by private owners or by the city; all the
memb ers of the wemt to various schools to learn carpentry, plumbing,
electrical engineering, etc., and worked very hard at rehabilitating a
house on the lower east side of New York. When the house was ready to be
lived in, the city took it back. A very shocking experience. One woman who
was heavily
involved is Pamela Brennan, who now lives in San Francisco, and, I
believe, runs a bed and breakfast place. Why don't you try to reach her
by phone. If you were able to reach her, give her my regards. Ruby
Rohrlich.
