Besides the classic Becker work, Boys in White which Bryan Johnstone
meentioned, I would include Gail Henderson and M.S. Cohen's, "The Chinese
Hospital: A Socialist Work Unit" Yale Univ. Press, 1984. Quite a contrast
to the mostly western hospital studies listed so far.
