Yes, there are some people convicted who are, in fact, not guilty of the
crime for which they are convicted. That has been true throughout
history. But, on the other hand, unless we send a clear message that
crime will not be tolerated & are prepared to enforce that resolve with
only one, albeit harsh, penalty, then we should abandon societal
punishments & let the crinimals completely run the world.

I am ready to go one step further & suggest that every country (or
fraction) who makes war on another & loses, should forfeit the lives of
everyone of its soldiers, lest they continue to obey a despot & kill more
people. In this way, war will either be fought in the "boardroom" or not
at all!
