Stanford U. has a small academic group run by A. Dien in this region.
I used to think this was sleepy subject compared to the more dynamic
Societ and Chinese studies. But this region re-entered the world
stage both culturally and economically after the breakup of the Soviet
empire and probably again when the Chinese empire distinigrates too.
