Unfortunately, I am not in an anthro program right now but plan to be in one
next Fall. I encourage you, though, if possible, to attend the AAA's annual
meeting this November in Washington. Specifically, there will be a Workshop
for students to provide a forum for info. on what practicing anthropologists
are doing and a Q&A on being a student, etc. - basically all the issues you
raised would be great discussion points. The AAA has a WWW page on the
