The Catholic faith has never opposed evolutionary theory. The Pope has
done nothing more than restate that Christian faith is not contradicted
by science. When it is recognized that the world was created by God,
"evolution" becomes an explanation of God's work, not a replacement
for God.

The dispute with Galaleo is brought up regularly by atheists to
demonstrate the truth of "science" and the falseness of "religion".
The Pope is steering a clear path around sillyness such as this.

Mindless evolutionism has fallen apart under the weight of information
that contradicts it. Atheists will never discover how God made the
world, the burden of their beliefs will restrain them far more
effectively than pronouncements by the Pope.
