Yes, Wednesday is named after the Anglo-Saxon Woden (a cognate of the
Norse Odhinn, which we translate as Odin). Friday is named after
Odin's wife Frigga, while Tuesday is named after the Norse deity Tyr
(Tywaz in the Anglo-Saxon). Thursday is obviously named for Thorr,
Monday after the Norse deity Mondi (the moon). I don't know of any
Norse origin for Saturday (sounds Roman to me), but Sunday would come
from the Norse goddess Sunna (the sun).
