Uh, huh.

Well, if you knew anything about Usenet, you'd know that since this is a
sci.* group, part of the "7 proper Usenet hierarchies" that this group got
formed following a successful Call For Votes after a Call For Discussion was
held. Sorry, don't know who came up with the idea of having this group or if
the groups 'charter' still exists out there somewhere.

As for a "group for real anthropologists on the Internet", this is it.
If you're annoyed by the various pseudoarchaeology postings, well, thems the
breaks. Until a moderated group gets formed (something that many have
suggested), there is nothing preventing the postings of this stuff.

But then, there is nothing preventing the "real anthropologists" from posting
here &/or ignoring the idiots.
