Try "Oriental Magic" by Idries Shah with a foreword by Louis
Marin (French School of Anthropology and Internatioanl Institute)
This is a world survey with suggestions about geographical
diffusion, various spells, formulae compared and a discussion about a
possible basis for a thought-force.
From that discussion, "The only avenue open to students of the
occult in their strivings is to operate strictly on the basis of
science."
Publisher Octagon Press Ltd, London. ISBN 0 863040 17 9
Good luck.
