Another excellent source for Native American funerary practices can be
found in the Bureau of American Ethnology series, especially Bulletin
no. 71 and 83:

Bushnell, David L.
1920 Native Cemetaries and forms of burials east of the Mississippi
B.A.E. #71.

1927 Burials of the Algonquian, Siouan, and Caddoan Tribes west of
the Mississippi B.A.E. #83.

Incidently, these and many other rare and out of print anthropological
publications are available from Ethnographic Arts Publications-
