The swastica was also used by American Indians for thousands of
years. Among other things, it represents the "wheel of life".
(Same shape as described by Kari above.)

(1) Left branch: birth and youth (rising)
(2) Upper branch: middle age (level)
(3) Right branch: old age (declining)
(4) Bottom branch: death

It also stood for the four seasons, the four directions of
the horizon, etc.
