Gil - Far as I know the term refers to US northeastern Colleges ... the older,
more established educational institutions in America. It refers to their ivy
covered walls - a sign of their age and stability. Martha (my spouse) says
that she thinks that there was also an actual club ... the Ivy League ...
composed of well-to-do upper class grads of these schools. Martha is usually
right.
