NATIVE RESEARCHERS' CANCER CONTROL TRAINING PROGRAM

Applications are being accepted for the Native Researchers' Cancer Control
Training Program, sponsored by the University of New Mexico, the
University of Arizona's Native American Research and Training Center and
the Indian Health Service. The Native Researchers' Cancer Control
Training Program is designed to help develop research skills for the
implementation and evaluation of cancer control programs among Native
communities, tribes, or among other groups of Native peoples.

It is open to researchers interested in cancer prevention and control
activities. The following modules are included:

* Principles of Epidemiology
* Biostatistics
* Grant writing
* Software instruction
* Grant funding agencies
* Literature reviews
* Questionnaire design
* Human subjects protection

The first year's training course will accept 15 fellows for the
three-week, all-expenses paid training program. The course will be held
on the campus of the University of New Mexico, New Mexico, USA , JUNE 5
THROUGH JUNE 12, 1995. Acceptance into the program mandates three weeks
participation. The deadline for applications is MARCH 1, 1995. Native
women are strongly encouraged to apply. It is expected that successful
applicants will already have training at least at the Master's level.
