Gender Status & Intro of Horse: Plains

I am doing research (undergraduate) on the effect of the introduction of
the horse and gun onto the Northern Plains on gender status. I would
like to see how incorporation in the 18th century of the Sioux into the
pelt trade effected the status of women.

I would very much appreciate hearing from anyone who knew of a
site from before the Sioux migrated onto the Plains(possibly in
Minnesota?) that had 2 layers - residential- one from before approx 1750
and one from after 1750 in order to do a compare and contrast.

Also, if anyone could suggest which type of artifacts can be associated
with women and also, which show status, it would be a great help.

I thank you, in advance, for any help you might be able to provide.

Sincerely,

Karen Brandwein
