The book you want to get ahold of is: FOOD IN ANTIQUITY A Survey of the
Diet of Early Peoples by Don and Patricia Brothwell. Frederick A.
Praeger, 1969. There is no ISBN number because the book was written so
long ago.

While it covers time periods that you are not interested in, it does deal
with Palaeolithic man and later. There is also an extensive bibliography.

If you have any further questions, feel free to e-mail me.
