Sorry, I thought I'd previously posted that here, but that was
somewhere else.

"Suprisingly, this diving response is not confined to diving
mammals, but is also seen in rabbits and in sheep and lambs"
(John H. Patrick, pg. 241, "Human Respiratory Adaptations for
Swimming and Diving", pp. 237-246. 1991 *The Aquatic Ape: Fact
or Fiction?* Edited by Machteld Roede, Jan Wind, John M. Patrick
and Vernon Reynolds. Souvenir Press: London.)

In the same volume, Erkia Schagatay points out that the extent
of bradycardia in humans varies with training, and is about the
same as that of a trained dog. (Erkia Schagatay, "The
Significance of the Human Diving Reflex", pp. 247-254.
1991 *The Aquatic Ape: Fact or Fiction?* Edited by Machteld Roede,
Jan Wind, John M. Patrick and Vernon Reynolds. Souvenir Press: London.

I'll look up another cite later this week when I next get to the
library.
