You really ought to sort out your comparative morphology. If you define
a knee as a joint in the middle of the length of the leg (as you seem to
do) you'll end up with all sorts of weird comparisons. Your "backwards
knees" are ankles and the animals are walking on tip-toe (compared to
us). Their knees are hidden in the folds of flesh next to their bellies.
