I agree. In my imagination of an AAT lies a way of life, staying at
the seashore, using the best of the water and the land environment.
Hostile animals from the land side would be avioded by swimming, and
threats from the sea would be avoided by resorting to land.

The tide is an incredibly efficient mechanism for species wanting the
goodies from shallow waters.
