Therapeutical tattoes?

Hi to everybody,
I'm searching notices about therapeutical tattoes in ancient
populations.
This hypotesis was recently stressed for the "man of Similaun", a mummy
discovered in Val Senales (ITALY) wich appears to be 5300 years old.
Other tattoes which are possibly related to a therapeutical practice
were also found on mummies in Siberia dated approx. 2500 years old.
I would appreciate any further notice of such a practice in ethnic
medicine.
Thanks in advance for any answer.
P.S. Sorry if this letter will appear twice, it seems as I'm having
troubles with the Newsgroups. Thanks.
