Try seeing if you can find a copy of Nick Toth and Kathy Schick's
"Making Silent Stones Speak" at the local library or book store. It is a
very good primer on stone artifacts and items; making them, types of
etc. I wouldn't really want to guess on what it could be, but I can say
that flint/chert and the like are definately not the only rocks people
were making things out of. You'd be just as likely to find slate,
basalts, etc based on the locality of the find(s). Good Luck --Dennis
