PROTEROZOIC, CAMBRIAN
NOTES: Scale 1:5000K. Size 89 x 56 centimetres. Multiple of 22 sheets enclosed
in hardcover. Russian language. Produced in Russia 1977. **Part of a 3 Volume
set.
DETAILS: The maps display the history of tectonic evolution of the USSR
territory in Late Proterozoic - Triassic. Each map presents reconstruction of
some large regions of the Earth's crust, i.e. platforms, geosynclines,
orogenic and koilogenic areas, median masses, and smaller tectonic units. To
indicate rock type composition, the reconstruction of sedimentogenic,
volcanogenic, and intrusive geological bodies of different composition was
applied. The three-dimensional character of tectonic bodies is shown with the
help of isopachytes. The legend to the map is compiled in the form of a
correlation table which permits the comparison of tectonic, sedimentogenic,
and volcanogenic bodies in time and space.
This is the first time paleotectonic maps of this scale were compiled.
