Need help

Hi,

I am a writer who is currently working on a play concerning primate behaviour
and related topics. Since I am completely ignorant about the field, I have to
seek help here. I'm not even sure this is the right newsgroup (sorry if it's
not), but I try anyway.

I would like to know the followings:

(1) is it possible to work out the morphology of the brain of a chimpanzee
entirely from its skull? Are chimpanzee brains lateral like human brains?

(2) I am aware of studies in early 70s about teaching infant apes human sign
languages, and the conclusions of those experiments were that primates could
learn a language like a human infants. What are the developments of this line
of research in the past 20 years?

(3) How do chimpanzees communicate in nature?

I would be grateful if you could help me with these questions. I am also
looking for references (both books and original papers) on the intelligence of
non-human primates.

To make the situation a bit more complicated: I am not a regular browser of
newsgroups, so would you please e-mail to me directly?

Thanks in advance.
