So long.

I'm unsubscribing.

I've exchanged enough correspondence with enough fellow
ANTHRO-Lers that perhaps it is useful to add a few words
of explanation. This is a difficult step for me, but one
that I regard now as positive. I'm sorting out a number
of changes in both my professional and personal lives,
and tightening my focus a bit is the best way I know to
manage some of the challenges. In particular, I resigned
last Thursday from my long-time employer, and am
scheduled to begin Monday for a software developer that
claims to *encourage* telecommuting. After five years of
a rather odious routine of daily driving, I'm excited.

Anthropology will continue to mean much to me. I'll
still be available to individual correspondents for
address look-ups, discussions on the few topics (rein-
deer herders; innovation in agriculture; system theory;
the culture of mathematics; ...) where I might dispose of
a comparative advantage, and updates to <URL:http://
starbase.neosoft.com/~claird/sci.anthropology/*>.

ANTHRO-L has a lot to offer, and much more that it can
accomplish in the future. You have my best wishes.

May your waters run clear, and your friends understand
your words.
