Adrian, I may be off-base slightly on this so please bear with me.
Your question about a group with collective land tenure system
dominating a group(s) with a private tenure system seems to be
answered by the examples of the former Soviet Union, Cuba, and
the Peoples Republic of China. Within those cases, the private
land holdings (both large and small) were eliminated by state
systems which collectivized all lands. Whether or not this
collectivization was successful remains to be seen in a historical
sense as limited privatization of land is beginning to return to
the former Soviet state and republics.
