President Chirac wailed publicly and gnashed his teeth in the aftermath of
the pro-independence riots in Papeete, castigating Australia and New
Zealand for masking their true agenda of ejecting France from the Pacific
behind environmental and anti-military concerns.

Hey, the guy's not as dumb as I thought! Some of us have been saying for
some time that the major issues raised by Chirac's nuclear nastiness are
not only those of world peace, the environment and international law, but
also the moral anachronism of France's persistence as a colonial power in
the Pacific.

It appears that even mushroom clouds have silver linings! This may be just
the catalyst the indigenous people of "French" Polynesia (& New Caledonia?)
need to boot the bastards out of the Pacific and into post-coloniality.
Now, what about some of the other colonial possessions in the region?
Hawaii and "American" Samoa come to mind..............

Just a thought,
Maddog.
