Graduate student conference "Surviving at the Margins", to be held March
8, 1997 at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ announces its SECOND
CALL FOR PAPERS. We invite submissions addressing ways that individuals
and groups respond to circumstances of exclusionary processes and
pressures (e.g. ecological , political, cultural, etc.). Papers based on
original research should address theoretical issues of marginality as they
relate to: resource exploitation, negotiating power, identity
construction, or evolutionary implications. Qualified papers will be
published by Crosscurrents: The Journal of Graduate Research in
Anthropology. Graduate students: submit three copies of 250-500 word
abstracts by December 16, 1996 to: Conference Committee, c/o Sherryl
