cerning age and culture. I am currently taking a seminar course in community and ethnicity, and for the fieldwork project have decided to study a local daycare. This centre has a nice mix of Portuguese, Quebecois French and English and some Central American children. Also, the daycare workers themselves are "mixed". (No, I don't know their head size!) The problem is justifying this type of study in terms of ethnicity and community. Do children of 3 years of age manifest signs of ethnicity, do they already have conceptions about ethnicity and community? How are those conceptions manifested? The problem, as I see it, is trying to figure out at what age children (people) manifest "culture" and "society". Any ideas on this subject? What sort of studies have been done on age realtion to culture? Any help would be appreciated, and any discussion worthwhile. Renae Satterley---RK_SATT@pavo.concordia.ca
