I am about 80 pages into "We Have Never Been Modern" and cannot figure out whether this is persuasive trickery, confusing french intellectual gamespersonship with the ultimate goal of demonstrating how smart BL is, or the first real attempt at a structuralist anthropology of modernity. I start with a basic agreement with his aims - I also don't believe we are in any way modern - but now I find myself half-amused and half bemused. Anyone else out there trying to read this guy? I just read a whole article ABOUT him in Lingua Franca, but it was also pretty obscure.
