Coon and Racism

I am glad to see that several on the list have challenged the labeling of
Carleton Coon as a racist. I was Coon's neighbor for a number of years
and knew him on a personal basis. He was a kind and humane person and I
never, in all those years, heard him make what I would consider to be a
racist statement--and we spent hours and hours talking on many topics.
Although I am not familiar with his theories on race, I would think that
if he was the racist that some make him out to be, his personal life
would have reflected it. In my opinion it did not.

Just thought a little ethnograhpic input might add to the discussion.
