Then you regard buddhist, taoist and hindu sects that do not espouse the
existence of a deity to be non-religious? Atheism itself is not a religion,
but there are relgions that are atheistic. Bob Graber asks if there are any
ideas that cannot be religious? Religious and religions (bleiefs vs.
institutions are two separate things). The sects listed above are coherent
spiritual and cosmological systems and seem to have more in common with what
you condisder to be religions than they do to secular institutions. There
are ideologies that inspire "religious" like fervor: Contract with America,
The Communist Manifesto, Mein Kampf-to name just a few which are "ideas"
which I would not regard as being religions or religious. I distinguish
between atheism with a-theistic religions!
